🔗Government measures take aim at plastic waste

When you are in the same environment, it is not easy to raise awareness of how your society works for sustainability for the environment. When I moved to California in the United States as well as Austria. I learned the following things.
- Grocery stores do not use plastic bags, unlike Japan. If you are able to find a shop uses it, it would be an Asian grocery shop at a higher probability.
- People do not rely on wrapping product unlike Japanese people. I used to by it at an Asian grocery shop.
- For taking away, restraunts tend to use paper disposable cocntainer rather than plastic container, unlike ones in Japan. (Although, Japanese people do not frequently bring the remaining food home. They order what they can eat at given moment.)
- Plastic small bags provided in grocerty stored is not free in Austrial, unlike Japan and California, US.
When I was in Japan, I was always surrounded by plastic products. Literally, it was everywhere. And, it shaped my perception that using plastic is a necessity in our life.
Japanese people like to be sanitary, clean, and less pay attention to the accumulation of everyday usage of such products. So, it is good to draft measures to address the issue of plastic waste.
ずっと同じ環境で生活していると、自分が暮らす社会が環境の持続可能性のためにどのように機能しているということについて、意識することはなかなか簡単じゃありません。アメリカのカリフォルニア、そしてオーストリアに引っ越したとき、私は次のことを学びました。
- 日本とは異なり、カリフォルニアのスーパーではビニール袋を使用しない（規制されている）。もしビニール袋を使っている店を見つければ、それは高い確率でアジアスーパーだと思います。
- 日本人とは異なり、アメリカやオーストリアではサランラップを使わない。サランラップはいつも私はアジアスーパーで買っていました。
- 持ち帰りは、日本とは異なりプラスチック容器ではなく紙製の使い捨て容器を使用する傾向がある。 （ただし、日本人が食べ残しせず、食べる分だけ注文するので家に持ち帰ることがほとんどないのに対して、アメリカでの持ち帰り割合はかなり高い。）
- スーパーで用意されているプラスチック製の小さな袋は、日本やアメリカのカリフォルニアとは異なり、オーストリアでは無料ではなく生産時に請求される。
私が日本にいたとき、私はいつもプラスチック製品に囲まれていました。本当に、プラスチックはいたるところに溢れています。そして、その環境はプラスチックを使うことは生活に欠かせないものなのだという認識を形作っていました。
日本人は衛生的で清潔を好み、包装製品の日常的な使用の蓄積にあまり注意を払いません。したがって、プラスチック廃棄物の問題に対処するため、政府が措置を講じることは非常に良いことです。
