Here is why I think he is great. This is a kind of a chart to describe his goal. He made this chart when he was 16-year-old. It is called ‘the sheet to achieve your goal’.
His goal was to be picked up at the first round by 8 professional baseball team. He eventually be picked up by only one team, since he had already announced not to join the Japanese league but to the American league directly. In the end, he played in that team for a while and left to the MLB.
これが、大谷選手がすばらしい人だと私が思う理由です。これは目標達成シートといって、目標実現のために何をすべきかを書くシートなんですが、彼は16歳のときにこれをつくりました。
16歳のときに8球団から指名されるような選手になると掲げた目標はどうなったでしょう。結果彼を氏名したのは1球団だけだったのです。実は彼は高校を卒業するとき、既に違う目標を持っていました。MLBでプレイすることです。そのため日本でプレイしないことを宣言していたのですが１球団が彼を口説き落として彼はその球団で数年プレイした後MLBに行くことになります。
